Physical Therapy
Whether you are recovering from a broken bone, illness or surgery, regaining mobility, strength, flexibility and endurance are a key part of your recovery. Every individual has different goals and expectations in recovery, so our rehabilitation specialists provide a customized plan that incorporates the unique goals and abilities of each person.
Our rehabilitation team includes knowledgeable, caring professionals who are dedicated to providing quality care and support, and helping you return to the activities you enjoy as quickly as possible.
Inpatient therapy is offered daily, according to the individual treatment plan, at the bedside. We encourage family participation and include caregivers in our education before discharge.
The Role of Physical Therapy
The role of physical therapy in present-day health care has become significant in the concept of total patient management. Because of advancements made and improved research in treatments and techniques, an ever-increasing variety of conditions are being seen for consultation by a physical therapist in the hospital setting. The Physical Therapy team at Athens-Limestone Hospital works with patients while in the hospital, even critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, once consulted by the physician.
Working in conjunction with your doctor, our physical therapists are valuable members of the health care team. Our staff is trained to facilitate improvement in movement and function, help relieve pain, regain strength and flexibility, improve endurance, and expand mobility potential, which ultimately facilitates discharge out of the hospital. Through evaluation and treatment at the hospital, our physical therapy team treats patients with various medical conditions as well patients who have come for elective surgeries. Joint replacement patients receive professional care at the bedside shortly after surgery to restore movement and promote the patient’s ability to function at the highest level possible. Joint replacement patients receive education and exercise programs specific to their surgery, and family/caregiver education and participation is encouraged.
With skill and expertise in seeing such a wide variety of illnesses, injuries and conditions, the PT department at Athens-Limestone Hospital is an important link in the health care team that speeds successful recovery. Our staff of Physical Therapists and Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants strive to fulfill the “Be the Difference” philosophy that our hospital upholds by providing quality care in a compassionate manner. In choosing Athens-Limestone Hospital for your physical therapy, you have made the best choice possible in reducing pain and improving function and mobility.
